Often times homeowners are faced with all different types of water damages such as: pipes burst, washing machine malfunction, hot water heater leaks and storm related damages that lead to water intrusion from exterior of the home. In many circumstances, the water is cleaned up immediately and no proper drying has occurred by a restoration professional. This can lead to secondary damages such as mold growth with in the home or building. When this occurs, it is better to get an inspection to ensure that building materials are dry and not left wet.
During our inspections, we use several types of moisture detection devices to locate and map moisture in areas that could potentially be wet. Our devices are non-invasive and can detect moisture behind walls, ceilings and multiple types of floor coverings. Some of these detection devices are hand held moisture meters or infrared cameras that detect temperature differentials that help locate moisture that a hand held meter can not do or see..
In the event of major storms such as hurricanes, tornados, and strong wind storms, unforeseen water damage may occur pictured in the infrared picture on this page. Often times roofing materials are damaged without the homeowner or business owner's knowledge. This can lead to roof leaks and overtime this can cause serious damage to the building materials if not caught in time and repaired immediately. This is why you should consider getting an inspection after such an event to ensure the safety of your home or business.
